NORTHWEST VALLEY: Adultcare Assistance has once more proved its commitment to senior safety by organizing free Vehicle Safety Inspections—this time on March 23rd at Chaparral Winds Retirement Community. Complimentary inspections were offered to the residents of Chaparral Winds, as well as any local driver who wished to take advantage of this extraordinary opportunity.
Karen Wellert, President of Adultcare Assistance, developed this unique community service project with the cooperation of Thom Gyder, President of Wilhelm Automotive Service. Adultcare Assistance coordinates the inspection events; making appointments, arranging host sites, greeting and checking in the drivers. Says Wellert, “We are providing a valuable service to the community. Every summer we hear horror stories about seniors becoming disoriented in over-heated cars. We want to eliminate that threat to their well-being.”
Wilhelm’s ASE-certified technicians conducted the visual inspection of: fluid levels and filters, suspension and steering, instruments and accessories, cooling and heating systems, air conditioning, system transmission and driveline, fuels systems, tires and wheels, exhaust system—even a road test, if necessary. All free inspections included a written report with recommendations.
Free vehicle inspections are offered to anyone who transports an elderly or disabled person in their private vehicle. Thom Gyder reflected on the successful event, “The residents were friendly and enthusiastic about vehicle safety. Our technicians did a great job. It was a win/win for all.”
Laurie Fox, of Adultcare Assistance said, “It’s a pleasure doing a community service project with such committed businesses as Chaparral Winds and Wilhelm Automotive. Adultcare Assistance enjoys partnering with other businesses that are also interested in elder safety and comfort. These kinds of programs enhance and expand our mission to serve seniors in the West Valley.”
